Hailing from Malappuram in Kerala, Anas’ interest in the sport took root when he was just 14 years of age. However, to supplement his passion for football, he worked as a rickshaw driver. Former international Feroz Sherif spotted him in an inter-collegiate game which kick-started his career. On Feroz’s advice, Anas went for the I-League second division trials at Mumbai FC and got selected. After four years with Mumbai, he moved to Pune FC in 2011 and made 76 appearances for them. In 2012-13, he earned the Pune football club’s Player-of the-Year award becoming the first Indian player ever to win that award in the club’s history. Subsequently in 2012/13, Anas was made captain of the Red Lizards and lead his beloved team to the runners-up spot.
Delhi Dynamos snapped up Anas Edathodika for Rs 41 Lakh during the 2015 ISL auction. He was a permanent fixture at the back for Delhi in his first season with the club and will have a major role to play for the Lions in Hero ISL 2016 as well.
