The 26-year-old Laxmikant Kattimani donned the goalkeeper’s gloves at the request of a friend in school. It was a decision that served him in good stead as Vasco SC took him on board and he apprenticed under ace Brazilian goalkeeper Rogerio Ramos who later became goalkeeping coach of the Indian team. He eventually joined Dempo SC in 2008 and now commands a regular place in the senior team by virtue of his consistent performances under the bar.
His career flourished at the club as he soon represented India at the AFC under-19 Asian Cup qualifiers as well as at the 2012 Olympic qualifiers at Doha. He has made 15 appearances for FC Goa in the past two seasons and will be looking to the make the goalkeeping position his own once again in Hero ISL 2016.
- Winner, I-League (2009-10 & 2011-12) and two Goa pro league titles, with Dempo.
- Has represented India at both under-19 and under-23 levels.
- Semi-finalist in Hero ISL 2014 with FC Goa.
