Profile

The Fatorda Stadium, officially known as the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, is the home ground of FC Goa. Established in 1989, it also acts as the home ground of I-League superpowers Dempo SC, Salgaocar SC, Churchill Brothers SC and Sporting Clube de Goa.

It has also been used as a cricket stadium. It’s one of the important footballing venues in India.

It has hosted India’s qualifiers in the FIFA World Cup and the AFC Asian Cup. After its renovation last year for the 2014 Lusofonia Games, Season 1 of the Hero Indian Super League saw huge crowds fill the stadium for almost every game. The noise in stadium was deafening during last year’s semi-final encounter between FC Goa and Atlético de Kolkata where the local crowd turned out in large numbers.
