80 Kids Shorlisted For Reliance Foundation Young Champs Final Selection Camp In Mumbai

The Reliance Foundation Young Champs (RFYC) final selection camp for its third batch is set to kick off from May 2 and will continue till May 8 as the brightest young talents from the eight ISL clubs cities assemble at Mumbai to have a shot at the prestigious scholarship. Eighty youngsters who proved their skill and mettle at their respective ISL Clubs scouting festivals earlier this month are set to go one step further under the watchful mentorship of Piet Hubers, technical director of the Grassroots Development Programme for the Hero Indian Super League and Mark Vaessen, head coach of the Reliance Foundation Young Champs.

The two teams from South- Kerala Blasters FC and Chennaiyin FC showed great promise with 13 kids shortlisted from each clubs grassroots scouting efforts. Of the remaining 54 shortlisted kids through RFYC Club Scouting Festivals – 12 are from Atlético de Kolkata, 11 are from NorthEast United FC, 10 from Mumbai City FC, 9 from Delhi Dynamos FC, 7 from FC Goa and 5 from FC Pune City. The shortlisted 80 kids were selected from over 480 participants who were handpicked by each clubs scouting programme. 60 of the shortlisted kids are 12 years old while the rest are aged 11 years which helps the program build the kids overall development including their game as well as academic performance.

The 80 shortlisted candidates will be hosted at Reliance facility in Mumbai and will take part in theoretical sessions in the form of seminars in tandem with practical sessions that will test their technical ability, fitness and skills etc. during the five days of intensive training beginning May 2, 2017 at Fr. Agnels, Vashi.

Reliance Foundation Young Champs, one of the most holistic sports development programme in the country, currently hosts 41 Young Champs selected over the last 2 years and has provided them various exposure trips and competitive opportunities in India and abroad, including a 12 days exposure trip to train and compete with nine Premier League academies- Chelsea, Crystal Palace, Reading, Aston Villa, Southampton, West Bromwich Albion, Manchester City, Manchester United and Liverpool.
